Subaru Forester gets tech and and styling upgrades for 2016

Subaru has announced a fresh batch of revisions inside and out for the Forester. The 4X4 gets a lightly refreshed exterior design, additional soundproofing and changes to the suspension. It goes on sale in April.

At the front of the new Subaru Forester, a redesigned grille features with a new mesh design and there's now L-shaped chrome trim on the bumper. Black detailed headlamps and LED combination rear lamps complete the subtle external tweaks.

Inside, you'll find what Subaru claims is a "higher proportion of soft touch materials". New piano black and silver metallic trim also aim to raise the tone while more options of cloth and leather upholstery are available. The various TFT displays on the Forester's dash are now higher resolution, too, in a move that follows on from last year's update to the touchscreen navigation system.

Subaru has also worked on the Forester's refinement, with extra soundproofing to dampen engine noise and thicker windows to reduce wind rustle at speed. Suspension settings have been rejigged to improve the ride over poor surfaces, while the steering ratio has been quickened for better response on the road.

Finally, the Forester now gets the option of adaptive LED front headlights that rotate with the steering wheel. The engine range, a mix of three 'boxer' four cylinder petrol and diesel units, is unchanged. Pricing for all trim levels is also the same, with the Forester range kicking off from £25,495.
