Fiat unleashes front-wheel-drive Panda City Cross

Toughest version of Fiat's Panda city car now available as a cheaper, City Cross variant with front-wheel-drive

Fiat Panda City Cross

Fiat has revealed a new addition to the Panda range in the form of the Panda City Cross – a chunky, crossover inspired version of the firm’s tall city car, which is a milder take on the range topping all-wheel-drive Panda Cross model.

It builds on the style of the Cross with a similar jacked-up and cladded look, but drops that car’s two engine choices for a single 1.2-litre petrol unit, producing 69bhp. It’s also front-wheel-drive only and isn’t available with any of the off-road features of the Cross model, such as hill descent control.

In terms of design, the Fiat Panda City Cross gets the same modified front and rear bumper inserts and side mouldings of the full-fat Panda Cross, with rugged black plastic cladding running around the vehicle’s edges and a pair of square fog lamps. It rides on 15-inch alloy wheels, and also sports black roof bars, while two new exterior colours are available.

It can be specced to look identical to the 4x4 Panda Cross with the optional City Cross Style Pack, which introduces side mouldings, a front skid plate, body coloured door mirrors plus red tow hooks at the front.

The optional package also builds on the interior spec, replacing the matt black dashboard fascia and black and grey fabric upholstery with a copper coloured dashboard, plus interior panels and seats taken from the more expensive model.

The new Panda City Cross is on sale in the UK now, priced from £12,995.
