Koenigsegg CCX

Swedish hypercar can run on bioethanol as well as standard unleaded

Koenigsegg CCX

History is littered with ambitious small supercar firm’s thinking they can mix it with the likes of Ferrari and Porsche - and more often than not they fall by the wayside. Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg however, has firmly established itself in the supercar elite, despite producing its first car in 2002.

In 2009 the CCX represents the culmination of everything its learned along the way. The 806bhp 4.7-litre V8 is entirely hand-built and propels the mid-engined, carbon-bodied masterpiece from 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and onto a claimed top speed of 259mph. There’s even an environmentally-friendly CCXR version capable of running on E85 bioethanol, boosting power to 1,018bhp thanks to the eco-fuel’s higher octane rating.
